The Hollywood Fringe is an open-access festival, meaning anyone who meets the basic qualifications can join; there is no jury deciding who can and can’t be a part of it all. It is a self-produced festival, meaning its participants produce, promote, and stage their own work.
Participating in the Hollywood Fringe Festival:
- Create Your Project: Bring your performance or art piece to life!
- Book a Venue: Pick a venue within the Fringe Zone. You can reach out to participating venues through our website, or register your own if needed.
- Register Your Project: Complete the registration process to make it official!
Remember, the Fringe is all about open access and self-production. Need a hand? Just shoot an email to support@hollywoodfringe.org. Let’s make some magic happen!
Please keep in mind: The Fringe staff doesn’t manage, rent, or own these venues – we partner with independent venue managers and producers to make the festival happen. There are many Hollywood venues already involved in the festival and you'll be able to contact them through our Website. None of the listed venues strike your fancy? Scope out a venue in Hollywood and register your own.
CHECK OUT THE FESTIVAL TIMELINE HERE!
All shows participating in the 2025 Hollywood Fringe Festival can also choose to livestream their show simultaneously to increase their audience, though it is not required.
- Venue Setup: First, check if your venue offers live streaming or consider hiring your own tech team.
- Discuss Early: Be sure to chat with your venue about livestream options before you book. Every venue has its own setup, so exploring a few different ones is a smart move!
Get ready to reach an even bigger audience!
STEP ONE: CREATE YOUR PROJECT
It’s totally free to post an idea on our website by creating a project. It can be anything you might like to bring to the Fringe, there is no obligation. Add some thoughts, pictures, video: Whatever you need to articulate your idea. This is a public project – anything you post can be seen by the Fringe world. Hopefully, it will attract some attention from members of the community who might be able to help by lending resources and assistance.
Key Points When Posting Your Idea:
Free: Share your project idea on our website for absolutely no cost!
Flexible: Use text, images, or video—whatever best expresses your vision.
Public: Your project will be visible to the Fringe community, making it easier to gather support and resources.
STEP TWO: APPLY TO YOUR PREFERRED VENUE(S)
(More venues will be added to the site in the coming months)
Ready to take it to the next step? Get ready to hunt for a venue. We have made this process easier by securing a list of Hollywood venues interested in hosting Fringe programming. When you apply, they will receive an email with your application information and a link to your project. Feel free to contact them directly once you have applied online.
Already have leads on a venue in Hollywood? Register your own venue. Participants converting unlikely spaces into full-fledged Fringe venues is the lifeblood of the festival. You might also open your new venue to other fringe projects, offsetting your costs and expanding opportunities to other artists.
Key Points When Finding a Venue:
- Use Our List: We provide a list of Hollywood venues interested in hosting Fringe shows. Apply through our site, and venues will get your application and project link.
- Contact Directly: After applying online, feel free to reach out to venues directly.
- Register Your Own Venue: If you have a venue in mind, you can register it. Converting unique spaces into Fringe venues supports the festival and can also benefit other artists.
- Need Help? If you encounter issues with finding or booking a venue, email support@hollywoodfringe.org
See our article on finding a venue to learn more about this process.
STEP THREE: REGISTER WITH THE FRINGE (Opens February 1st, 2025)
When you pay your registration you secure your spot as a festival participant. This avails you to all the benefits of participation (see below). You can register your Fringe show before completing a deal with a venue, which means you won't need to wait on a third party to ensure your spot in the festival.
Fringe Registration Fees:
- $300 for paid/ticketed and/or multi-performance shows
- $175 for shows that are free to attend
- $50 for educational events, workshops, etc.* (You may register an educational event for $0 if you have already registered another show)
*Educational events and workshops are designed as a knowledge share event (workshop/panel) or a non-performance community event that takes during the festival. Under this registration type you will be listed under Workshops & Events in the printed guide and NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR AWARDS.
Important note: It is your responsibility to ensure you book a venue (this will most likely include additional fees). If you pay your registration fee and are unable to complete a booking or are unable to produce the show, we are happy to roll over your fee to a subsequent year. We will also refund your registration if the request is made by April 1st, 2025.
For more details or assistance, contact support@hollywoodfringe.org. Let’s get your show on the road!
BENEFITS OF REGISTRATION
We have tried to keep our registration costs as low as possible so all can participate. Most of the money raised through registration will be spent on marketing the festival itself. Remember: We don’t guarantee you an audience, however, we do everything we can to make sure people know about the Festival as a whole. Attracting festival-goers to see your show is a task you need to tackle yourself (we will help you along).
Once you have paid your registration fee, you are entitled to these benefits:
